What does a website project include?
Discovery, sitemap, wireframes, visual design, development, content loading, speed and accessibility work, testing, launch and training. Copywriting and photography can be included or handled by you, whichever you prefer.
Do you write the content?
We can. Copy is where most projects stall, so many clients ask us to write it from interviews and research. If you have a strong in-house writer we will give them a brief for every page instead.
Who owns the website when it is finished?
You do, completely. The domain, hosting, code, designs and content are yours. We hand over logins at launch, and if you move on you take everything with you.
Can you work with our existing site rather than rebuild it?
Often, yes. If the foundations are sound we would rather improve what you have through targeted redesign and conversion work than spend your budget starting again.
Will the site be fast?
That is a requirement, not an extra. We budget for performance from the start, optimise images and scripts, and test against Core Web Vitals on throttled mobile connections before launch.
Is the site accessible?
We build to WCAG 2.2 AA as standard: contrast, keyboard navigation, focus states, semantic structure and labelling, checked both automatically and by hand.
What happens after launch?
You can take the site in-house or keep us on a care plan covering hosting, updates, backups, monitoring and a monthly block of development time for ongoing changes.
Do I have to sign a long contract?
Projects are fixed scope and fixed price. Care plans are monthly with no lock-in, because we would rather earn the next month than trap you in a year.
What is the difference between web design services and web development?
Web design covers the look, structure and user experience of a site; web development is the code that makes it function. A web design agency like ours handles both under one roof, so the visual design and the build are planned together instead of being handed between two separate suppliers who have never spoken to each other.
Do you offer web design services for small businesses, not just large brands?
Yes. Most of our clients are small and medium-sized businesses rather than enterprise brands. Scope and budget flex to match: a straightforward brochure site for a local business follows the same process as a larger ecommerce build, just with fewer page templates and a shorter timeline.
How do I choose between different web design agencies?
Ask to see full live sites, not just cropped screenshots, and check they load quickly on your own phone. Ask who specifically will work on your project, what happens if you want to leave, and how they handle content. Agencies that get defensive about any of those three questions are worth a second look before you sign anything.
