Original
Optimised copy
Works with one still image at a time. Maximum input: 20 MB / 30 megapixels. AVIF output is limited to 12 megapixels and may take longer to encode. Compression results vary.
How to use it.
Use dimensions appropriate to the display. Keep the original separately; a smaller file is not automatically the best visual choice.
- Choose an image from your device.
- Set the maximum width, output format and quality.
- Compare the sizes and download the optimised copy.
Keep the work moving.

Resize a still image to a maximum width and height while keeping its proportions.
Open tool ↗Centre image cropper
Create a centred square, portrait or landscape crop from a still image.
Open tool ↗Image rotate and flip
Rotate a still image by a right angle, or mirror it horizontally or vertically.
Open tool ↗A LITTLE BACKGROUND
Choose dimensions, then choose the format.
A web image has both a pixel size and an encoded file size. Reducing one does not always produce the best result for the other. This browser image optimiser resizes within your chosen maximum width and exports JPEG, PNG, WebP or AVIF. Keep the original and compare detail, transparency and file weight before deciding which copy to publish.
Put it to work.
A 4,000-pixel photograph used in a 1,200-pixel content area may not need its original dimensions. Start with an appropriate width, then compare a modern compressed format at a moderate quality setting. A logo with transparency may need a different decision from a detailed photographic background.
What to check next.
AVIF uses a bundled WebAssembly encoder in a local worker because ordinary canvas exports do not reliably encode AVIF. It may take longer than WebP. A very small image can become larger after re-encoding; the comparison reports that honestly rather than claiming a guaranteed saving.
Questions about
this tool.
Is the AVIF download a real AVIF file?
Yes. AVIF export uses an AVIF encoder and saves image/avif bytes with an .avif extension. It is not a renamed PNG. Your browser and site must allow WebAssembly and blob workers for that conversion.
What are the limits of this image optimiser?
Works with one still image at a time. Maximum input: 20 MB / 30 megapixels. AVIF output is limited to 12 megapixels and may take longer to encode. Compression results vary.
Can I use the output on a commercial project?
You can use the generated output in your own workflow, subject to the rights in the material you provide. Review the file or markup before publishing it. These tools do not verify ownership, factual claims or suitability for your particular project.
